Rated 5 out of 5 by Yakkadoo from Cute little machine for DIY projects This machine is great for making cards and labels as well as personalizing just about anything you want. I have been using the Joy for about six months now and have enjoyed how easy it is to make cards and to design personalized items. It did require some getting used to using Design Space as I had never used it before, only the craft room app that Cricut previously had. But by watching some Youtube videos it was not difficult to learn. One nice thing about Design Space is that you can have multiple windows open so while one thing is being cut out you can work on another project in a separate window. Setting up the machine was very easy. I had no difficulties with getting it up and running in about 15 minutes or so. There is a sample of silver vinyl that you get to make a practice cut without using a mat and they give you six designs to choose from. They also give you a sample of blue cardstock to use as well. The machine is only about 8" wide and 4 1/2" tall so it is no problem to find a place for it to sit. You could even pack it away in a drawer when not in use but I keep mine out on my desk. So far I have mostly used some insert cards to cut out several card designs and used core'dinations paper to cut out various shapes for use on cards and it has worked nicely. I've not had issues with any ripping of the paper or poor cutting except for one item I tried to cut out which was a very intricate circular design at 4" with a lot of swirly bits. It did not cut out well but I was not surprised given how intricate it was. I have also used the Joy pens in the machine and they have worked well. I have done a couple cuts where the machine draws a shape and then cuts it out which was neat. I have also used the card mat to address several envelopes and that has been a lot of fun. One nice thing about when you take out the blade to use a pen is that you can place the blade housing on the upper right side of the front of the machine and it will hold it up and out of the way while it writes or draws. My only big issue with the Joy is the bluetooth connectivity. If I turn on my computer and use the Joy soon afterwards, it is not a problem. But if my computer is on for a few hours, or my computer goes into sleep mode and then I turn it back on, I've had issues with Design Space not recognizing my Joy when I try to make a project. I've had to restart my computer to get it to work which is not a huge deal but it is annoying. My favorite things about it are that it is very easy to work with and so light and portable. You can take the machine to wherever you want to craft. It is also nice to be able to quickly make a card with the card mat. And it is cool to be able to make long cuts for decorating along walls, wooden panels, etc. The only limit is that you can't create something that is more than 4.5" tall but since I mostly use it for making cards and personalized items I don't mind that.

You have to pay for everything, no real cards, or iron on's are free! Every template COSTS! I hate this machine and you really cannot use all the space on the iron on area it blocks you from doing that! Horrible design!
